Hydromet: ECCAS experts expect modernization of services

It was in the presence of the Deputy Secretary General of ECCAS Marie Thérese Chantal Mfoula that the Minister of Transport and Logistics Justin Ndoundangoye closed the work of the 1st Forum on Hydromet of ECCAS which was held from 14 to 16 November 2018. A meeting that allowed the experts and specialists of the issue to address the issue related to the management of weather and climate disasters.

Thus, this conclave made it possible not only to take stock of meteorological services, water and disaster management in Central Africa, but also to discuss the impacts of extreme weather and climate events on communities, countries and regions. or good practices for effective early warning systems.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, the Deputy Secretary General of ECCAS Marie Thérese Chantale Mfoula congratulated all stakeholders on the organization of this forum. She assured the experts that the conclusions of this work will be transmitted to the highest levels of ECCAS. "The feedback we received reflects the relevant suggestions contained in this roadmap which will be submitted to the decision-making bodies of the community namely the Council of Ministers and the Conference of Heads of State and Governments", he said. she indicated.

Minister of Transport and Logistics Justin Ndoundangoye, in his closing remarks, appealed to Gabon's development partners on the need to support the efforts of the highest authorities in the area of ​​sustainable development. "This is an opportunity to challenge, as at the opening of its foundation, to invite the development partners and donors backing us, to support us in the implementation of the three priorities which I have just listed in order to drastically reduce the risks and natural disasters in our sub-region, "he said.
